Bullock leads Razzie awards

SANDRA BULLOCK was shamed as Worst Actress at the 2010 Golden Raspberry Awards on Saturday (06Mar10) – just a day before she’s tipped to pick up an Oscar.

Bullock picked up the spoof movie trophy for her part in All About Steve, which she also co-produced, even though she is one of the favourites to win an Academy Award at Sunday night’s (07Mar10) Oscars ceremony for her role in The Blind Side.

The Miss Congeniality actress received a standing ovation as she took the stage to pick up her Razzie – the first Worst Actress recipient to attend the show since Halle Berry was shamed for her role in Catwoman in 2005.

Armed with a box of DVDs of the film, Bullock told the crowd they all need to watch her performance again because she’s not convinced she deserves the dishonour.

She told the audience, “Something tells me you all didn’t watch the film because I wouldn’t be here if you really, really watched it and understood what I was trying to say. Everyone gets a copy and this is the deal I’m going to make. I will show up next year if you promise to watch the movie and really consider if it was truly the worst performance. If you’re willing to watch, I’ll come back next year and give back the Razzie.”

Bullock also landed another flop trophy for Worst Screen Couple with her All About Steve co-star Bradley Cooper.

Other big losers at the event include Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which was panned as the Worst Picture of 2009, and received dishonours for Worst Director for Michael Bay and Worst Screenplay for Ehren Kruger, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

Sienna Miller received the Worst Supporting Actress Razzie for G.I. Joe and Billy Ray Cyrus picked up Worst Supporting Actor for his part in his daughter Miley Cyrus’ big screen outing Hannah Montana: The Movie. The Jonas Brothers were jointly named Worst Actor for Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience.

Razzie bosses also marked the end of the decade by picking the worst movie offerings of the last 10 years – John Travolta’s Battlefield Earth was labelled the Worst Picture and Paris Hilton was named and shamed as the Worst Actress, while Eddie Murphy was named Worst Actor.Similar Posts:

‘I’ve always been conscious of my weight… but I finally feel confident,’ says Leona Lewis as she bares her newly toned body

She has a voluptuous figure that has been the envy of women everywhere since she shot to fame three years ago.

But Leona Lewis said she only now feels confident about her body after admitting that she has always been quite conscious of her weight.

However, as the 24-year-old singer showed off her slimline figure for a photoshoot for Grazia magazine, the shy side to Leona emerged when asked about her weight loss

She said she ate lots of vegetables, avoided all processed food and drank nothing but water for a whole month.

But when a member of her team mentioned to the Grazia journalist that she had lost weight recently, Leona winced at the remark.

She said: ‘That’s what everyone’s been saying but I’m quite an average size. I’ve always been conscious of my weight.’

She said there is nothing that she would change about herself and added: ‘No, I feel pretty confident.’

But Leona also admitted that she is more aware of her appearance since becoming famous.

She said: ‘Now I sometimes feel like I can’t wear certain things, so I’ve stopped looking at photos of myself. You become more self-conscious.’

Raised in Hackney, East London, Leona said she has been kept pretty grounded by her parents.

And despite spending most of last year in Los Angeles recording her album, she said she prides herself on being normal and didn’t get seduced by the luxurious celebrity lifestyle while in the US.

She said: ‘ No, I don’t wear diamonds or anything like that. I did have a fitness trainer for a week but then I realised I preferred classes.

‘Overall, I’m quite good with how I spend my cashola.’

Leona also dismissed rumours that while in Los Angeles, she had a breast enlargement.

She said: ‘It’s weird that people look at you like that. I wouldn’t go up to someone and say, “Oh my God, look at your bust.”

‘That’s very strange to me, it’s just too personal.’

Leona also spoke about her latest body art – her tattoo that goes halfway down her back and is a poem about horses.

And she admitted that her long-term boyfriend Lou Al-Chamaa, didn’t like it to begin with.

She said: ‘He was a bit annoyed at first. He was like, “It’s permanent!”

And Leona said getting a tattoo, almost seen as rebellious for the clean-cut singer, is not the first step towards a Britney Spears-style breakdown.

She said: ‘Britney’s got a lot of people around her who are just really bad and out of order.

‘I trust every single person around me, and if I feel even a whiff of uncertainty I won’t have that person around me.’

Bowie’s son wins outstanding debut award at BAFTAs

David Bowie’’s son Duncan Jones choked back tears as he picked up the award for outstanding debut by a U.K. film-maker for his first movie Moon at the BAFTAs.

Jones was handed the first honour during the ceremony at London’s Royal Albert Hall and had to compose himself as Colin Firth presented him with the prize.

Jones told the audience it’s taken him his whole life to realise he wanted to be a film-maker – and the BAFTA Award is a vindication of his career choice.

During his speech, Jones said, “Wow, thank you so much. I didn’t actually realise how much this meant to me. It’s taken me an awful long time to know what I wanted to do with my life. Finally, I think I’ve found what I love doing and I just want to thank everyone who helped me get there.”

Meanwhile Kathryn Bigelow’s war thriller The Hurt Locker was given the Outstanding Screenplay title, beating off competition from Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, Todd Phillips’ The Hangover, The Coens’ A Serious Man, and Pete Docter and Bob Peterson’s Up.

The Hurt Locker, British film An Education, sci-fi blockbuster Avatar, Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire, and Up In The Air are set to compete for the night’s Best Picture prize.

An Education star Carey Mulligan is up for Best Actress, facing competition from Hollywood veteran Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia), French star Audrey Tautou (Coco Before Chanel), Saoirse Ronan (The Lovely Bones), and Gabourey Sidibe (Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire).

Meanwhile, Brit actor Colin Firth is nominated for his performance in fashion designer Tom Ford’s directorial debut, A Single Man.
