Boy George yesterday refused to defend himself at trial and will not testify in his own defense.
Boy George is on trial for allegedly imprisoning and beating a male escort who refused to have sex with him.
He has admitted restraining the hooker, but through his lawyers claims to have had a lawful reason for doing so.
On a tape played at his trial, Boy George:
“I absolutely admit I had him in the handcuffs, so he wouldn’t go anywhere while I checked the computer. I certainly wasn’t going to kill him, that’s hardly goingto help my career now is it.”
Boy George met the male escort online on a social network, gaydar.com. The accuser, Carlsen, said the star invited him to his pad in Shoreditch, East London, to pose for nude photos for around 300 pounds.
They did blow together and Boy George tried to perform a sex act on Carlsen, but Carlsen said he refused because he was grossed out by the fat celebrity. Carlsen said that that night Boy George accused Carlsen of hacking his computer and that they parted without incident.
Carlsen left the flat after being paid £300 for the 12-hour session.
Boy George and Carlsen corrensponded by email after that evening. The star apologised by email and said he wanted to spank The two arranged for another meeting at Boy George’s flat.
After taking cocaine and more nude photos Mr Carlsen claims George went to buy milk then returned with an unidentified man. They “jumped” on him, pulled him across the floor and handcuffed him to a hook drilled into the wall by his bed.
He said: “They held me down and beat me. I couldn’t move. They pulled me to the floor and sat on me. George hit me, slapped me.”
He claimed he fled in his pants after wrenching the hook out.
Last year Boy George got community service in New York after he said a rent boy tried to rob him – and cops found cocaine in his apartment.
