The estate of Anna Nicole Smith will receive none of the some $300 million she had said her late oil baron husband had promised her, a court ruled on Friday.
Smith, a Playboy model and reality television star, died at age 39 of an accidental prescription drug overdose in 2007. She was in the middle of a 15-year legal battle over the will of her husband, billionaire oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall, who died at age 90 in 1995 - a year after she married him.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is the latest stop of the fight over the $1.6 billion estate that Marshall, owner of Great Northern Oil Co., had left.A Texas state court had ruled Smith to receive nothing, following a plea by his son. She was later awarded $89 million by a federal bankruptcy court in Los Angeles.
